[Tsinghua-NC] Startup seeking Lead and VP of Engineering in Solar



We designs, markets and innovates new products for the emerging clean energy. Our products make solar power more efficient. You will have a chance to be part of fast growing company in the big China market.

Two positions open for VP and Lead engineer, similar job requirement but different years of
experience required.

Role Definition:

Establishing the company's technical vision and leading all aspects of the company's product development. The CTO/VP is the company's top technology executive, playing an integral role in the company's strategic direction, development, and future growth. Solar Microinverter industry hands on experience is required.


Responsibilities:

Develop strategic plans and policies to ensure hardware, software, and infrastructure capabilities are responsive to the Company's growth and objectives

Develop and implement short and long term goals, Delivery oriented and can meet strict time lines

Identify and assess emerging technologies to determine their potential value to the Company

Advise senior management on issues involving related solar technology and trend

Lead a small team and oversee the development, design, and test the products

Have strong sense of economy of scale and can quick implement the cost-down for existing product and it's mass production

Ensure the security of company IP and trade screte

Responsible for Recruit, hiring and training satff

Provide regular reports, presentations and analysis.


Requirements:

* Solid background in DC-AD power architectures; Flyback, Resonant, ZVS, Synchronous, Bridging, etc...
* Deep understanding of theory and application of magnetics to inductors and transformers to achieve maximum efficiency
* Design experience with FETs, MOSFETs, SCRs, TRIACs, IGBTs, Bipolar Transistors, TVS, etc.
* Solid foundation in PCB layout, component placement and routing
* Able to model and simulate complex circuits
* Hands on Experience merging analog and digital designs
* Signal processing; ADCs, DACs, Op-Amps, passive filters, voltage monitoring, current sensing, etc.
* Experience with safety and compliance regulations
* Familiarity with UL-1741, EN61000, IEEE1547Bot
* 8+ Years industry experience working with Solar PV MicroInverter
* ASIC design experience with Verilog RTL design, simulation, and verification of Digital ASICs
* Experience with Digital Signal Processing, DSL, ADC, DAC, FSK and Filters
* Knowledge of low-level communications protocols (L1/L2) strongly desired
* Expertise with ASIC design methodology including Verilog Coding, Chip Constraints, Verification
* Silicon lab bring up experience
* Digital SOC design
* Matlab experience preferred
* Familiarity with Synthesis, DFT, ATPG and Timing Closure
* Mixed Signal experience preferred
* MSEE or PhD preferred
* Solid understanding of product life cycle a definite plus
* Experience with US and Europe Certification

Position Summary:

The Vice President of engineering reports to the CEO is responsible for driving all

elements of product development, validation, delivery and support for EV related

products offered by the company. He or she manages groups of electrical, firmware,

software and mechanical engineers and technicians and works closely with production

management, marketing and service organizations and customers. The role requires

hands-on experience and engineering expertise in the areas of embedded system

engineering and ideally power electronics with a market proven product development

track record.

 

Skills & Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage all development engineering activities including hardware,

firmware, software, as well as mechanical, thermal engineering aspects of the

electric powertrain.

- Build, manage, define and implement the development processes, procedures and

schedules that will ensure delivery of predictable, high-quality product releases.

- Organize, recruit and motivate teams toward their respective goals to achieve

optimal efficiency and technical effectiveness.

- Ensure effective and efficient collaboration between engineering and other

departments, especially production management and product services with

successful product delivery and solid support.

- Demonstrate organization and leadership skills.

- Manage development effort in our startup environment which spans different

geographic locations.

- Be able to support production and customer activities with up to 40%

international travel.

 

Qualifications:

- Advanced engineering degree, PhD preferred.

- 10+ years of senior / executive management experience

- Intrinsically motivated with a strong drive to achieve business objectives

- Automotive experience is a plus.
