Analytics Engineer

Responsibilities:
• Develop innovative analytics solutions to understand user behavior of Samsung products and services
• Prototype and engineer data mining or machine learning algorithms to predict user behaviors based on past behaviors
• Drive adoption of novel analytics solutions by product organizations
• Contribute to the organization's strong drive to be on the cutting edge of technology through the
generation of patentable ideas
• Be able to quickly learn/adapt, using diverse tools and technologies
Skills/Attributes:
• Substantial analytics experience, with a background in at least one, but not limited to,
web analytics/web metrics, statistics, statistical pattern analysis, NLP, physics modeling, data mining, and recommendation
systems for large scalable data systems
• Database experience and server programming skills, such as Java, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, and Python
• Experience in Hadoop, MapReduce and NoSQL database is big plus
• Experience in information visualization desired, but not required

Senior Engineer – Cloud Services
Samsung's new Media Solutions Center America, located in San Jose, California is currently recruiting world-class cloud and web services senior professionals who share our "Innovation through Passion" philosophy and thrive in a fast-pace, cross team, results-driven environment. If you want to take on highly visible, challenging, and cross discipline projects, this is a role to apply for.
Duties
- Lead and participate in architecture discussions for Samsung's cloud platform services
- Evaluate new service proposals, determine feasibility, and architecture implications
- Architect and build evaluation services and provide documentation
- Active participation in evaluation of services – both internal and external
- Participate in industry events, where appropriate
- Work with UX Labs and HQ development teams
Qualifications
- Strong track record of developing and deploying web services
- Experience with convergence technologies with multiple consumer devices and services
- History of leadership/influence in evaluating and developing web services and web platforms
- Understanding of Hadoop and big data .
- BS in Computer Science
- A minimum of 8-10 years experience in services, upcoming internet technologies and working with product groups or with product strategy teams.
Desirable skills:
- Experience in R&D or proof of concept project environments
- Experience with managing multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Experience with common standards such as Web services, HTTP, XML, Hadoop, PHP, Python, Java
- Experience working with multi-cultural and distributed teams to define direction and lead initiatives.
