Job Title: Senior Manager, Software Performance Engineering
Location: Palo Alto, CA
Job Scope:
Nicira is looking for Manager, Software Performance Engineering who wants to make an immediate impact with our development team. As a member of the Software Engineering team, you will be managing the Integration and performance engineering team for Nicira's software network virtualization products.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the integration and performance of Nicira's Software onto multiple hypervisor platforms.
- Participate in architecture discussions and planning with Development
- Track hypervisor platform roadmaps work with Nicira product management on integration plans.
- Development work for integration (ex: KVM+libvirt).
- Main point of contact for integration and performance issues.
- Drive software engineering roadmap for Nicira's Network platform team with predictable schedule and high quality.
- Manage integration of Nicira's Software onto NICs.
- Develop and execute integration, automation and release test plans to meet product and customer requirements.
- Work on test strategy for compatibility and performance
- Partner with customers, support, NIC vendors, and Software QA.
- Assign areas of ownership, ensure engineers have clear priorities and adequate resources.
- Energy and desire to deliver high-quality software on aggressive schedules.
- Report weekly trends highlighting product performance and team status against committed milestones and projects.
Requirements:
- 7-10 plus years of people management experience with 10 plus years of experience in software development with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects.
- Previous experience with virtualization technologies (Xen/Vmware) is a strong plus.
- Experience with Linux networking layer is a strong plus.
Knowledge of Linux system administration would be a strong plus. - Quickly learn and could work in a start up environment.
- Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking and a great personality who enjoys working in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Team player that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments.

Education: A Computer Science or related undergraduate and/or master's degree is required.
