Software Engineer / Tech Lead, Network Management, Mountain View, CA

The area: Engineering, Platforms

Google's global deployment of custom-designed machines has created one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in existence: cutting-edge innovation on a huge scale. The Platforms team designs and builds the software, hardware, computing platform and networking technologies that power all of Google's services.

The role: Software Engineer, Network Infrastructure

As a Network Management Software Engineer, you will design, develop and deploy Google's next generation networking management system. You will help change the way people think about Google and the Internet. You will define and implement innovative ways to deploy, operate and monitor networking systems at scale. You possess strong networking systems, infrastructure and tools development expertise. You should have experience designing and developing software for networking devices and systems in C, C++ or Python and a strong interest in delivering top quality products.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software for the configuration, monitoring, and analysis of networks at a massive scale.
  • Design and develop software for emulation/simulation of networking systems and protocols.

Requirements:

  • BS in computer science or equivalent. MS or PhD is a plus.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Designing and developing network/switch management components. 
  • Experience in developing and releasing networking products.
  • Exceptional C++/C or Python programming skills.
  • A strong understanding of networking systems or distributed system.

Front End Software Engineer / Tech Lead for Networking, Mountain View, CA 

The area: Software Engineering

Software Engineering Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies for which we've become world-renowned. In addition to revolutionizing search technology, we use our world-class programming skills to innovate in a number of other areas as well. Our projects include working on advanced information-retrieval algorithms, massive scalability and storage solutions, and large-scale applications that enrich the user experience. We also work extensively on networking systems, advertising systems and complex transaction systems in consumer applications.

The role: Front End Software Engineer for Networking

You will help Google build next-generation web applications to configure, monitor, and analyze Google's massive networks. As a Front End Engineer at Google, you will specialize in building cutting-edge UIs and APIs. You may design or work on frameworks for building scalable frontend applications. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about and have experience building leading-edge user experience, including dynamic operator experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Build next-generation web applications with a focus on the network operator side.
  • Redesign UI's, implement new UIs and APIs.
  • Explore and design dynamic and compelling operator experiences.
  • Design and build scalable framework for web applications.

Requirements:

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Significant development experience in server-side technologies such as C/C++, Java, Python.
  • Web application development experience.
  • Knowledge of AJAX/HTML/CSS and an interest in user interface design.
  • Object-oriented JavaScript skills.
  • Knowledge of UI frameworks such as XUL, Flex, and XAML a plus.
