This position resides in network system engineering group of AT&T Labs at San Ramon, California. It has a focus area of advanced access technology (for instance vectored DSL) and home technology (for instance MIMO WiFi), but a rich knowledge of IP core network is also highly desired.
This position will analyze, model and optimize the performance of AT&T's broadband network. It requires a capability to extract network configuration, usage, and performance metrics from inventory systems and element management system, then process and conduct statistical analysis over a large amount of data. Strong communication skills are required to present work product, solicit feedbacks, and address questions from marketing, customer care, field operations and network planning groups. This position requires a strong inter-departmental working skill so as to serve clients in these groups.
A good understanding of wireline network elements (residential gateway, WiFi device, DSLAM, Ethernet switch, IP router) and their functionality is required for this position. This includes knowledge of topologies for home, access and IP core networks, and knowledge of end-to-end routing of voice, data and video traffic. A solid understanding of digital telecommunication and/or computer networking technologies is required along with strong analytical skills.
Applicants should have either a Ph.D in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations research, Physics or Math with 0 + years of relevant experience or M.S in these areas with 2+ years of relevant experience.
AT&T Labs provide a competitive compensation package and this position requires a minimum amount (<5%) of travel.
