吴军博士,Google华裔元老之一。2002年加入Google,2010~2012年间作为腾讯搜索及广告方面副总裁。现负责某Google X项目(Google Project X)。
吴军博士以对业界的犀利认识广为人知。作为纳斯达克指南针的作品《浪潮之巅》,展现了现阶段华人对科技创业公司最深刻的认识,并持续燃烧着后来者的激情。同时,作为硅谷科技公司发展的镜照,本书也潜在性为新世纪中国科技公司的发展指明了方向。
作为一名语音识别、自然语言处理、特别是统计语言模型的专家,吴军博士在这些领域浸润近二十年。期间,分别于清华大学学习工作,于约翰霍普金斯大学攻读博士学位,并于Google创建并长期领导中日韩文搜索部门。其开创的网络搜索反作弊领域,更已成为现代网络行为研究的一大方向。
数十篇顶尖国际论文和近十项美国及国际专利是吴军博士多年心血的勋章。其并于2005至2011年间担任约翰霍普金斯大学计算机系董事会董事,并于最近转任该校工学院董事会董事。同时,吴军博士还兼任中国工信部的专家和顾问。
追寻技术之余,吴军博士乐于科学普及。一部《数学之美》,作为当年谷歌中国对华人学子们贡献的代表,持续激励着科技青年们直面数学明珠的勇气。同时,吴军博士还有品酒的爱好,堪称杜康国度的葡萄酒专家。
A veteran of Google's Chinese group, Dr. Jun Wu joined Google in 2002, from 2010 to 2012, he served as the vice president in the searching and advertising department of Tencent. Dr. Wu is currently in charge of Google's Project X.
Dr. Wu is well-known for his sharp vision in the industry. His book, On Top of Tides has been called Nasdaq's compass, which shows the deepest understanding of the technology companies, and enlightened a lot of late-comers. Meanwhile, this book also recorded the development of Silicon Valley's technology companies, pointing out the directions for the development of the Chinese technology companies.
As an expert in voice recognition, natural language processing, statistical language modeling, Dr. Wu has been working in these areas for two decades. He studied and worked at Tsinghua University, received his PhD Degree at Johns Hopkins University, and founded and headed the Chinese, Korean and Japanese language search department in Google. He is the pioneer in the field of anti-cheating web search, which now has become a hot area in modern internet behavior research.
Dr. Wu has published dozens of top international papers and close to ten U.S. and international patents. Dr. Wu was on the Board of Directors of Johns Hopkins University's computer science department from 2005 to 2011, and recently was elected to the board of its Technology Institution. At the same time, Dr. Wu Jun also serves as consultant in China's Ministry of Industry.
Besides pursuing technology, Dr. Wu likes writing. The book Beauty of Mathematics continued to inspire Chinese young people to pursue the beauty of mathematics. Dr. Wu also likes wine-tasting.
