You might have heard that the overall success rate for first-time entrepreneurs is only 12% -- Do you want to become one of those lucky guys who created successful businesses?
CHAIN is hosting our Startup Success Boot Camp again to help you build a winning business. It is a series of workshops intended to help Chinese entrepreneurs in silicon valley -- such as yourself -- to learn the nuts and bolts of starting a business venture and understand the challenges and risks in the startup process. No fluff, only practical information you can apply right away.
This is an invitation to the fourth workshop focusing on tax.
Tax has huge implications for a startup. The workshop will cover all these areas and more:
- Entity classifications
- Intro to state tax implications including income tax and sales and use tax
- Intro to various credits and incentives including R&D and Enterprise Zone
- Tax implication of various exit strategies
We have 2 great speakers from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC).
The first speaker Eugenia Rao is a partner at PwC. Eugenia has over 17 years of experience in US tax consulting and compliance services, including experience in federal, multi-state, and cross border / foreign taxation for corporations (C & S Corporations and LLCs), partnerships and individuals. Eugenia leads the PwC Chinese Business Network (including China, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong) in Northern California which was created to provide enhanced, integrated, and on-the-ground worldwide support for US and Chinese multinationals. Eugenia also leads the Asian business tax practice in Northern California and serves clients of the three pillars: (1) US Inbound Asian Enterprises that require substantial entity-level and cross border tax services; (2) Asia-Bound US Multinationals that require US coordination of services delivered in Asia; and (3) Asian-owned or managed US Enterprises that require a full range of tax services
The second speaker Chan Chang Fong is a tax director of the San Jose office of PwC. He is a Certified Public Accountant ("C.P.A.") of the State of California, U.S.A. Mr. Fong has 14 years of experience in providing the following tax services to both inbound and outbound multinational companies: (1) International, U.S. federal and state tax planning; (2) Settlement of controversial tax issues and ruling requests with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service ("I.R.S."); (3) Transfer Pricing / Advanced Pricing Agreements ("APA") for multinational companies; (4) U.S. federal and state tax compliance
