John Chang, Chairman, Clean Focus
John Chang drives corporate development and mobilizes capital sources at Clean Focus. He brings over 25 years of expertise in building enterprise and consumer ventures in both start-up and multinational companies. He has focused on clean technology over the last three years and assisted a solar photovoltaic start-up and a low-energy fluorescent lighting manufacturer. John leverages extensive operating experience and a strong business network in Silicon Valley and Asia. He most recently co-founded a casino slot-machine manufacturer in Shanghai, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors of a joint venture in Beijing. Previously, John was Chairman of StarCite, where he led the merger of OnVantage and StarCite to form the dominant player with over $60 million in sales in on-demand meetings technology. Prior to StarCite, John co-founded seeUthere Technologies, which later became OnVantage. Before serving as CEO of OnVantage, John was Vice-President of Marketing for Interwoven where he helped launch the company from seven employees to market leadership and an eventual IPO. John also held Section 16 executive officer positions at Insignia Solutions, where he helped take the company public in 1995. Prior to Insignia, John managed a $600 million business unit at Acer America, and he served in several managerial positions at Hewlett-Packard. John earned an MBA and Arjay Miller Scholar award from Stanford University and a BSEE with Honors from the California Institute of Technology.
Ben Lee, Senior VP, Cypress Semiconductor
Ben Lee joined Cypress Semiconductor as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales in July 2008. Most recently, Mr. Lee served as Vice President, Worldwide Sales, at Trident Microelectronics and Chief Operating Officer at Apexone Microelectronics, a Shanghai based startup. Prior to Apexone, Mr. Lee was Vice President at Altera Corporation for Asia Pacific and Managing Director of Altera International Ltd based in Hong Kong. He led highly successful strategic business campaigns to drive rapid growth of Altera's sales across Asia Pacific, establishing Altera as a premier brand in the Asia market.
Prior to Altera, Mr. Lee held various senior management positions at National Semiconductor Corporation and Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, both in Silicon Valley and Asia. While at National's Silicon Valley headquarters, he led the company's marketing effort in the personal computer business unit, growing market share of the SuperI/O product line from 18% to over 50% while facing tough US and Asia competition. Mr. Lee completed his career with National as General Manager, China Region, while serving dual roles as Business Unit Director for telecom, information appliance and DVD product lines. At Chartered Semiconductor, Mr. Lee was Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and led the company's strategic business planning process and expanded the company's marketing reach in Europe, Japan, North America and Greater China.
Starting his extensive career as a system integration engineer at IBM's Federal Systems Division in New York, Mr. Lee holds a B.S.E.E. from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and an MBA in marketing from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
Brian Ann, US-China Consultant
Brian is a seasoned executive in Venture Capital and High Tech Industry. He is currently advising clients in the areas of alternative and new energies as well as fund raising for start ups. Prior to his current role, Brian was the Executive Director for KTB's (Korea's largest PE/VC) Investment Office in Beijing, China.
Prior to KTB Investments, Brian was the managing director for Hotung Capital Management responsible for all venture investments in US. His investments included AATI (Nasdaq), Airespace (sold to Cisco), Berkana (sold to Qualcomm), Cicada (sold to Vitesse), Infinera (Nasdaq), Polyfuel (London AIM), Resonext (sold to RFMD), Zettacom (sold to IDT) and others.
Prior to his venture capital career, he has been an entrepreneur, an executive, and an engineer. He founded Signia Technologies in Silicon Valley and served as its first CEO. Signia develops wireless semiconductor solutions and is now a member company of the Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. in Taiwan. He was also involved in the cellular and PCS system products and technologies with Repeater Technologies (NASDAQ) as its VP of Engineering, and with Lucent Technologies as a technical manager and a member of technical staff.
He received his MSEE from the Ohio State University, and BSEE from the National Taiwan University. He also attended the EMBA program at Rutgers University in New Jersey as part of the leadership program sponsored by Lucent Technologies. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
