Abstract
China now has the largest number of people on the internet (over 500M) and the largest number of mobile phone users (over 900M) in the world. The rapid growth in China has also facilitated a renaissance of its own home-grown internet giants like Baidu, Tencent, and Alibaba as well as more recently Renren and Dangdang. Many of these companies were started by returning entrepreneurs born in China and educated in the US.
For the budding entrepreneur in college, how should one think about opportunities in China and other career opportunities after graduation? In this talk, Edward Tsai will share learnings and observations as a venture capitalist in a leading cross-border Venture Capital firm, DCM. He will share about trends of internet companies in China, the startup ecosystem in China versus the US, success factors of entrepreneurs in China, and how to think about opportunities after graduation, including doing your own startup.
